Trinity Health Michigan offers comprehensive weight loss services, including the HMR® (Health Management Resources) Weight Management plan. This nationally recognized program helps many people lose twice the weight in half the time without feeling hungry.

The HMR program is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top diet plans. It ranks highly for helping people lose weight quickly. HMR maintains a favorable ranking for helping people maintain weight loss for at least two years. It’s also recognized as one of the easiest diets to follow. 

 

About the HMR Diet Plan

With the HMR approach, successful weight management is a matter of learning and practicing new skills, not relying on willpower. You learn new lifestyle habits that improve overall health while eating delicious food throughout the day. This program is not covered by insurance, so you must pay for it out of pocket.

HMR Program: What to Expect

The HMR program consists of two phases:

Phase I: Initial Weight Loss

You follow a meal plan under the medical supervision of a Trinity Health physician to ensure you lose weight safely. A structured diet gives you a break from current food routines so you can focus on losing weight.

You have two options:

  • Decision-Free™ Diet promotes rapid, significant weight loss under medical supervision. It is ideal for anyone who wants to lose 30 pounds or more or whose health requires monitoring. This diet uses only nutritionally complete HMR shakes and entrees.
  • Healthy Solutions® Diet combines HMR shakes and entrees with fruits and vegetables.

You also receive coaching from HMR health coaches and online support from members as you start becoming more physically active.

Phase II: Lifestyle Phase

You work with health coaches to transition from the structured diet plan to healthy solid foods. We help you make a habit of eating balanced meals containing lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats. This phase also focuses on making physical activity part of your daily life.

Support

You receive ongoing support to help you push past challenges and make it easier to adopt lifestyle changes. You learn how to avoid temptations and handle situations that center around food.

HMR health coaches are available through groups and a free HMR app. The app enhances your experience by putting information about goals and progress at your fingertips.
