Trinity Health Oakland is always in need of caring individuals who can volunteer to help in various areas of the hospital. We consider each volunteer to be an integral part of our healthcare team who freely gives of their time, talent and resources to help Trinity Health Oakland carry out its mission and core values of service to the community.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age, be U.S. Citizens and have a social security number. Ages 15-17 will need to have a parent consent form signed to volunteer. We ask those wanting to volunteer to commit to at least four hours a week.

    • Inpatient Nursing Care Units: Pre/Post Surgery (2E), Physical Therapy/Rehab (2G), Cardiology/Cardiac (3S), Ortho/Neuro (6S), Surgical (5S) and Joint Care (7S)

KEY Requirements:

There are certain key requirements that we ask each person to meet in order to volunteer at Trinity Health Oakland. These requirements are set in place for your protection, as well as for the protection of our patients, visitors, and staff. Each requirement must be met before your first day of volunteering is established.

Interview – All Volunteer applicants will meet with a Volunteer Service staff member to discuss interests, review of the completed application, complete other required paperwork and determine potential placement options.

Background Check – All Volunteers age 18 and over will be subject to a criminal background check.

Uniform – Volunteers will purchase a uniform that distinguishes them as part of the volunteer team. Gentlemen: Red vest or jacket. The uniform also includes wearing black pants/slacks, comfortable black shoes, and a white shirt. Ladies: Pink jacket along with white pants and comfortable white shoes. Students (15-17): Red polo shirt along with khaki pants and clean tennis shoes.

Health Screening – TB skin test, COVID vaccine and a yearly Influenza (Flu) vaccine are required.

Training/Orientation – As a Volunteer, you are required to attend and complete an orientation that includes policy and procedures, guidelines, rules, and regulations, parking instructions along with the benefits associated with volunteering, including how to become involved on the Volunteer Board and other activities sponsored by the Volunteer Services Department.

Name Badge – Each Volunteer receives a hospital-issued identification badge that must be worn at all times above the waist.

ReferencesALL Volunteers will need to have TWO professional references to be completed by non-relatives and email/mailed directly back to the hospital, along with the application or separately before your application can be processed for consideration. Click here for the reference letter form.
