ST. JOSEPH MERCY PORT HURON HOSTS FREE PAIN MANAGEMENT COMMUNITY EDUCATION EVENT
Port Huron, MI…Chronic pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease and cancer combined. It is estimated that at least 100 million adult Americans have chronic pain conditions. Chronic pain can have an impact on quality of life, contributing to: anxiety, depression, increased stress, financial hardship and lack of sleep. To help community residents better understand chronic pain and the treatment options available, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron will host a special program, titled: “Re-Discover Life and Break the Grip of Pain."
This free program will be held Tuesday, May 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Baggot Street Café (cafeteria), St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, located at 2601 Electric Avenue, in Port Huron. The program will be presented by Board Certified and Pain Management Fellowship-Trained specialists Sabbir Ahmed, MD; and Wasif Hussain, MD, of the Mercy Pain Management Clinic. The program includes free refreshments.
In addition to the physician presentation, information regarding Partners in Care, a pain and symptom management program offered by Mercy Home Care (MHC) will be available. The Partners in Care program focuses on chronic illnesses such as emphysema, heart failure, cancer, late state dementia, stroke and neurological diseases. It focuses on treating the patient's physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
