ST. JOSEPH MERCY HOSTS VARICOSE VEIN COMMUNITY EDUCATION EVENT
Port Huron, MI...Affecting both men and women equally, nearly half of everyone 50 years of age and older suffers from varicose veins. New, non-invasive and effective treatment options are available. St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is pleased to host a community education event, titled: "Understanding Varicose Vein Treatment Options". The presentation is designed to outline the vascular system and offer community residents information on advances in the care of varicose veins. The presentations will be provided Sadiq Hussain, MD, and Robert Lee, MD, board certified surgeons at Port Huron Vascular Clinic, PC.
"Many people are bothered by painful and unsightly varicose veins," explains Sadiq Hussain, MD. "Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be blue, red, or flesh color. When swollen, they rise above the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are often found on the thighs, backs of the calves, or the inside of the leg. They are often due to the pressure of the body's weight, forces of gravity, and the task of carrying blood from the bottom of the body to the heart. Because they endure the most pressure compared with other veins, leg veins have the toughest job of carrying blood back to the heart. Now, there are new and advanced ways of treating varicose veins, but the first step is understanding the symptoms and obtaining a diagnosis. This event will outline the advances in the care of varicose veins many patients have been waiting for."
The event will be held Saturday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Baggot Street Café, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, located at 2601 Electric Avenue, Port Huron, MI. Refreshments will be served and the event is Free to the public.
