Timothy Cox, MD, Named September 2010 Patient-Focused Physician of the Month 09/20/2010 Port Huron, MI…Timothy Cox, MD, was named the September 2010 St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician’s commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.
As an oncologist, Dr. Cox specializes in the care and treatment of patients with cancer. He was nominated for his commitment to elevating the status of local cancer care and services; his dedication to quality patient care; and his knowledge, expertise and compassion in the treatment and care of cancer patients.
“Dr. Cox serves in many capacities in providing St. Joseph Mercy cancer care programs and services and is dedicated to taking an active role in providing quality cancer care and services to the community,” comments his nominator. “He presents clinical data at the annual cancer care symposium, and he serves as Cancer Liaison for the hospital’s Cancer Committee and Principal Investigator for the Clinical Cancer Research Trial program. He provides outstanding direct patient care, is easy to talk with and is extremely knowledgeable of all possible standards of care. He is always very compassionate, honest and up front. He leaves his patients feeling encouraged and well informed. As a 10-year cancer survivor, with much of my success attributed to the initial and follow-up care provided by Dr. Cox, I have and will continue to recommend him to family and friends.”
“Dr. Cox is a terrific asset to our health care community,” states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. “His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Cox for elevating the health status of our community and being a physician whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to their family and friends.”
“Living and working in the area for more than 15 years, my goal has always been to advocate for both cancer patients and the availability of clinical research as I work in a variety of roles throughout the cancer care community,” comments Timothy Cox, MD. “I would not be so successful without my wonderful staff here in the office as well as the clinical staff from St. Joseph Mercy who have been dedicated to providing quality cancer care throughout the years.”
The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month is designed to highlight outstanding collaboration between our physician community and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital patient care and volunteer staff.
