St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Recognized For Excellence Overall And In Specialties
Hospital Ranks in Top Five Percent Nationally for Clinical Excellence and High Quality Care
Pontiac, Mich .—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) has been recognized by Healthgrades for overall excellence as well as excellence in specialties including critical care, gastrointestinal care, joint replacement, neurology and neuroscience, orthopedic surgery, pulmonary care, stroke care and women's health.
The rankings are determined by Healthgrades, which objectively measures risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across common inpatient conditions and procedures from data collected between 2009 and 2011 from Medicare patients.

SJMO was one of 262 hospitals nationally that received a Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for performing in the top five percent nationally in overall clinical excellence and comprehensive high quality care. This was the third year in a row that SJMO received this award.
For the third year in a row, SJMO was recognized in the top five percent in the nation in both Pulmonary Care Excellence and Women's Health Excellence. In addition, SJMO was recognized for both Joint Replacement and Orthopedic Surgery Excellence for the fourth year in a row as well as Critical Care Excellence and Gastrointestinal Care Excellence.
