St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Offers Free Prostate Education And Health Screening
Physicians to Discuss Most Common Prostate Concerns
Pontiac, Mich.—St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) will offer a free prostate education and health-screening event Saturday, Sept. 29 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in the Alice Gustafson Center on the hospital campus, 44405 Woodward Ave., Pontiac.
SJMO physicians will be on site to speak on prostate-related topics, including:
8 a.m.: Erectile Dysfunction and Incontinence, Marko Gudziak, MD
8:30 a.m.: The Controversy Around Prostate Screening; Jeffrey Forman, MD
9:30 a.m.: Lifestyle Changes and Risk of Prostate Cancer, Michael Cotant, MD
10 a.m.: Know Your Family’s Medical History: It Can Save Your Life, Richard Bennett, MD
To help participants make an informed decision regarding screening, all physician speakers will also discuss:
What is prostate cancer?
Who should be tested and when?
What does screening involve?
Risks and benefits of PSA testing
Free screenings to be offered during the morning event include prostate (both DRE and PSA tests), blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol.
To register, men should call 800-372-6094 and select one education session, which will be followed by the optional screening. Enrollment is limited, and openings will be filled on a first call, first serve basis.
