Diabetes Education | 734-593-5280

People with pre-diabetes and diabetes can have an impact on their health by understanding how to manage this disease. Diabetes is a lifelong condition, but it is controllable. Self-care is the most important factor in reducing health problems related to diabetes. You can learn how to manage and control this disease by using the information taught in our individual or group classes.

The expert staff can help you with information on:

  • Improve blood sugar management
  • Decrease, slow or reverse long-term complications
  • Increase your ability to provide self-care
  • Provide opportunity for follow-up and support from health professionals
  • Improve family understanding and support

Diabetes Education is reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid and most other private insurance plans.  If you have an HMO, you may be required to obtain prior authorization. If you have previously attended Diabetes Education classes, but need a refresher, Medicare covers a 2 hour annual education review with either/both the nurse and the dietician.

If you are interested in improving your quality of life with diabetes, ask your physician for a referral to our Outpatient Diabetes Education Program. We also offer a FREE Diabetes Sharing group to area residents and their families. Call 734-593-5280 for more information.
