Hospital Auction Breaks Record|
Chelsea Community Hospital’s 26th Annual Spring Auction, “Big Ten Tailgate,” was a rousing success, setting another record for the Hospital, raising over $234,000 and an amazing turnout of 330 guests.
The Auction was held on Saturday, May 14, at the UA 190 – IBEW 252 Hall, 7920 Jackson Road. The event included something for everyone, with a silent auction, raffle, super raffle, and the popular live auction, conducted by Auctioneer Steve Gross.
With proceeds funding the purchase of a linear accelerator for radiation therapy, guests dressed up in their favorite Big Ten team attire and enjoyed a night of fun and friends, complete with sports-themed décor and delicious tailgate fare.
The Pause for Pledge, conducted during the exciting Live Auction, was also a record-breaker with over $77,000 raised in less than 10 minutes, far surpassing the goal of $50,000. These dollars will support a variety of patient comfort items needed for the future linear accelerator radiation services.
This year’s auction was chaired by Kathy and Lou Magagna, M.D. and co-chaired by Johnny and Cindy Mitchell. Honorary Chairs for the event were Jim Woods and Sharon Hubbard.
“People really seemed to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and had fun dressing up in their favorite Big Ten fan gear,” said Patty Roberts, CCH Special Events Coordinator. “I’m so grateful to our outstanding group of Committee Members and volunteers who gave so much of their time to make this Auction an unforgettable evening for all who attended.”
“It is wonderful to see such a great mix of guests, which included community members, business owners, physicians, and staff – all coming together to support our Hospital,” said Judy Stratman, CCH Director of Marketing and Development. “The exceptional response is a true indicator of the strong support in our community for our local Hospital, and for having cancer care close to home. What a great community our Hospital serves.”
