Patients typically see a Prosthetist first to be cast for their temporary prosthesis. Once the process is started, patients have a physical therapy evaluation to determine areas of impairments. The comprehensive physical therapy evaluation looks at: strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, skin integrity, tone, posture, home environment and the patient’s ability to stand up, transfer and ambulate. A plan of care is then developed based upon individual patient needs.
