About 1 in 6 men is diagnosed during his lifetime, however due to medical advancements, including daVinci robotic surgery, only 1 in 35 will die from the disease. The daVinci System allow a surgeon to perform a more precise prostatectomy which results in a faster recovery, less pain, less risk for infection, less blood loss and less scaring.

Annually, 600,000 hysterectomies are performed in the United States, the majority of these being done with an open abdominal incision. A new approach to gynecologic surgery involves the daVinci robotic system, which allows doctors to handle complex surgical cases through tiny incisions, resulting in less post-operative pain and a quicker recovery.

  Esophageal Cancer
New cases of esophageal cancer are increasing faster than any other cancer. Each year approximately 13,500 Americans are diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which result in nearly 12,500 deaths. Most patients are diagnosed in their 50s or 60s, with approximately four times as many men diagnosed than women. Cancers of the esophagus tend to be more common in Caucasian males and it is thought that the majority develop from Barrett's esophagus.
  Lung Cancer - CyberKnife® Treatments
Lung cancer remains the most frequent cause of cancer death for both men and women in North America. There are over 1 million new cases of lung cancer diagnosed annually world-wide. CyberKnife has been used from the beginning to treat end-stage, inoperable lung tumors. Now researchers are using the CyberKnife for early stage lung cancer. Our researchers are participating in a national research study to compare outcomes of patients who use the CK for early treatments, vs. patients who have traditional surgery.
